Safety
- Safety considerations are paramount when visiting this area - particularly the Controlled Access Area.
- Most importantly - do not enter any road by which a red flag is flying - live training will be taking place so military roads are closed to visitors.
- Check the firing times available on this site and go to the map to check whether the area you wish to visit is affected.
- Do no pick up any military debris - it may explode and could kill or injure you!
- Always follow the instructions of the military signs
- The weather in the Cheviots can be changeable and can become severe even in summer. There is virtually no shelter in these hills. Do not set out unless you have suitable clothing, footwear, knowledge and equipment to navigate safely.
- Information panels can be found at many sites and at the key entry points to the Ranges.
